The links between gorillas and humans are obvious to even small children and yet primates are so frequently the victims of cruelty at the hands of humans.
Their biggest crime is that they share 95% of their DNA with us. As a result they are used in countless experiments in labs all around the world. Treating them in ways that are unimaginable.
I’ve seen footage that I almost wish I hadn’t because I cannot shake the disturbing images from my mind. More specifically the HBO documentary ‘Chimps, So Like Us’ by Jane Goodall.
As difficult as it was to watch, it was also an eye opener. No matter how many times I see documentaries and read articles about animal cruelty, I’m always blown away.
Look at this gorilla walking like humans do without being trained to do so. Seems as though he picked it up by watching the humans around him.
He likes to walk when he carries food because he can carry more when his ‘hands’ are free. Hmmm, sounds a little like evolution to me.
As interesting as this is to watch it makes me so sad that he’s trapped and not living a full life in the wild.
