Humane Society Foster Program

If you’ve been following my blog, you know that we are big into fostering animals for the Humane Society.

We’ve had DogsPuppiesKittiesbunniesmore kitties and our latest family that consists of a hardworking mom, and her six pups.

Libby, a Lab/Pit mix, came into the Humane Society as a stray. She had her babies there, and we took them two days later.

She is a sweet, smart, protective dog, and she takes great care of her babies! Not only did she have an upper respiratory infection, and an ear infection, but she’s also nursing 6 pups. She’s clearly exhausted, but doing very well.

I can’t imagine what would have happened to Libby and her babies if they were forced to stay in the shelter. I don’t think they could have made it. The people at the Humane Society are amazing, but there is nothing they can do about the fact that it’s noisy, and scary for the animals, and filled with sickness.

We’ve giving them a safe, quiet home to recuperate in, and get a good start in life until they are old enough to be spay, neutered, and adopted by loving homes.

In return we’ve gotten a ton of love, experience, and amazing memories. Because of our experience as a foster family, my kids are so kind, and so aware of others in need. They take such good care of all the animals we’ve welcomed into our home, and have learned so much.

I recommend the foster program to any animal lover. If you’re worried you can’t afford it, don’t be. If you can’t afford food, toys etc., the Humane Society will provide everything you need.

It’s also a great way to find out if your family is ready for a full-time pet if you’re unsure about committing.
