What Are You Having For Breakfast?

cereal-made

A few days ago I posted a recipe for a cereal alternative, and then I just stumbled on this video of a cereal factory.

The whole process kind of grosses me out, and I’m not even sure it’s really food.

Most cereal are made primarily out of corn that’s been genetically modified, which means it’s basically and insecticide, and not really a food. Watch Food Matters if you haven’t already to see how the whole process works….frightening!

If not corn, than highly processed soy, which has also likely been genetically modified.

We eat cereal on occasion, but I try to make oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, or my little raw mish mash I posted the other day (all made from scratch of course).

There are decent frozen options out there for waffles and pancakes, like Kashi, and Whole Foods brand, but they still have preservatives.

Processed food has it’s place in our busy lives, but actually making breakfast only takes about ten minutes and it’s well worth it.

Plus, I like knowing I don’t have to “spray” liquid vitamins on the breakfast I make like they do in the video…creepy…….

Thanks for posting this! It didn’t look like food to me either! It reminds me of the phrase “food product” because that is exactly what packaged foods really are, a product, and not natural at all. This video really opened my eyes and made me think of how food is made and handled, even with using natural ingredients.
