GREENS (Nitrogen)

Green pants

Garden Trimmings

Fresh leaves

Flowers

Grass clippings*

Fruit and Vegetable Scraps

Coffee Ground

Tea Bags

Manure*

BROWNS (Carbon)

Dry Plant Material

Straw and Hay

Fall Leaves

Potting Soil

Breads and Grains

Egg Shells (crushed)

Nutshells

Shredded Newspaper (not too much because of the ink)

Beans

Corncobs – chopped

*Grass clippings should not be too wet, and not too much or they will get too slimy

* Manure should not be from dogs or cats. Only dry manure from plant fed animals. Preferably chickens or turkeys

Remember to keep clippings ans scraps small. The smaller the material, the faster it will compost.
