Kind Holiday Gifts – FEED Project

FEEDBAG
I carry this bag almost everywhere I go, and I continually get compliments on it, and asked where I got it (including today as a matter of fact).

And I’m always proud to direct them to FEED’s website and give them the story about the bags.

Lauren Bush (worth noting that she recently married  Ralph Lauren’s son, and now goes by Lauren Bush Lauren), started the company in 2007 after she designed a bag to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP) School Feeding program.

As a WFP Honorary Student Spokesperson, Lauren visited countries around the world in Asia, Latin America, and Africa where WFP is operating and was inspired by the plight of the people she met on her travels.

She first created the FEED 1 bag, a reversible burlap and organic cotton bag reminiscent of the bags of food distributed by WFP, to help raise funds and awareness around these school feeding operations. It was stamped with “FEED the children of the world” and the number ‘1’ to signify that each bag feeds one child in school for one year.

To date, FEED has been able to raise enough money through the sale of products to provide over 60 million school meals to children around the world through WFP. FEED has also partnered with the US Fund for UNICEF, raising much-needed funds for their Vitamin A and micronutrient supplements program and providing over 46,000 children with essential nutrients.

She is always coming up with great new designs and products, so I check the site regularly.

I love these stocking for Christmas. Each FEED Joy Stocking purchased will provide a child with 1/2 year’s worth of micronutrients through the FEED Foundation’s Nutrients Fund.

She also has bags for specific events, like the 2010 eartquake in Haiti. For every FEED Haiti bag purchased, 50 school meals will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme’s School Feeding program.

She has T-Shirts, where each shirt sold provides 10 school meals to children through United Nations World Food Programme’s School Feeding program.

The list of great gift ideas from FEED go on and on, so please go check out the website while doing your holiday shopping this year!
