My Actions

MyActions
MyActions.org is a website that was started by three high school students who want to ‘motivate people to be more aware of AND take actions that will save energy and reduce CO2 emissions’.

During one of the teens’ junior year in high school, he was selected by the Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden for a polar bear trip to Churchill, Manitoba (the polar bear capital of the world).
On that trip he learned that global warming (climate change) is significantly contributing to the demise of the polar bear population.
After the trip MyActions.org was created. When you go on the site you can register to take the pledge……..
I pledge to complete the 3 week “Green Action Team” program because I understand that we must reduce our energy consumption, reduce our carbon footprint (CO2 emissions), reuse and recycle and do other actions to protect our planet.   I will enter at least 20 actions per week on at least 3 days per week for 3 weeks.  I understand that for my actions to count toward personal rewards or contests for organizations I support, I must “graduate” from the 3-week program by completing my pledge.

Each time you come to the site you can add what action you did to reduce CO2 emissions that contribute to climate change. Options include recycling, turning off lights, taking public transportation etc.
The site also has a community where you can join groups and share ideas. It’s a pretty cool site, especially considering the fact that it was created by high school students looking to make a change……and they are!
