Elizabeth’s Kind Cafe Interviews Cooper Street Cookies’ Elaine and Max Surnow

This week I had the opportunity to interview the mother and son team, Elaine and Max Surnow, creators of Cooper Street Cookies.

They have perfected their Mandel bread recipe and made it available to the public!

It’s made in Michigan, and available at many of our local grocery stores, but if you don’t live in the area, you will soon be able to go to their website and order on-line.

Here are the facts……..

  • For those who are unfamiliar, Mandel Bread is most commonly compared to an old European version of biscotti, originally known as “Mandelbrot”
  • It is produced out of the Sourdough Bread Factory in Pontiac, MI which is a non-dairy Kosher commercial kitchen
  • Our Mandel Bread is Kosher Parve, contains zero trans fat and is lactose free
  • The product is dry, and is best served with coffee, hot chocolate or tea as a dessert, but is also great to eat as a tasty snack by itself
  • The Mandel Bread has a shelf life of about 3 months and can be frozen and refrozen again without sacrificing quality to make it last even longer!
  • The way our Mandel Bread is specially prepared and uniquely triple baked is what gives it such an incredible texture and flavor
  • The packaging contains a state-of-the-art sure-strip seal technology which guarantees freshness
